Abstract: 

Our regular review of important court decisions includes two federal appellate cases and a case from Nevada. In Ruiz v. Catalino Bautista (7th Cir. 2024), the court ruled that an inmate’s claim of serious injury fails when not supported by medical evidence; in Colbert v. United States (D.C.App. 2024), the court ruled that a prisoner’s refusal to get vaccinated did not automatically bar him from establishing eligibility for compassionate release; and Scott v. Quigley, a federal district court ruled that an inmate with end stage renal disease failed to show that he would be likely to suffer irreparable harm in the absence of being prescribed one bag of ice daily.
