Abstract:
Could a routine X-ray or CT scan reveal not only hidden abuse—but an imminent risk of suicide? This research update highlights groundbreaking findings showing that radiologists can identify distinct injury patterns linking intimate partner violence and suicidal behavior. Drawing on a large hospital-based study, the article demonstrates how imaging data—often overlooked in abuse detection—can serve as an early warning system for escalating harm. By connecting clinical insight with prevention, it positions radiologists as critical frontline actors in identifying high-risk victims and triggering timely intervention. For practitioners across disciplines, this is a compelling look at how medicine and public safety intersect to save lives. Keywords: Intimate Partner Violence; Suicide Risk; Medical Imaging; Injury Patterns; Radiology; Early Intervention
