Abstract:
DVR heartily recommends two very different videos, both of which seek to change the response of the criminal justice system to battered women. The first, “’Till Death Do Us Part’: The Domestic Violence Stalker”, deals entirely with stalking, and starts from the premise that educating police officers about this crime and imparting the skills necessary to respond appropriately will enable them to protect battered women and others who are being stalked. The second, “City of Shelter: A Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence”, believes that unless all people change their attitudes toward battered women, there will be no change in how the system responds to their needs. This is not to say that each of videos don’t touch on the other’s issue, but the emphasis is entirely different, as are the people they are trying to reach and why. Keywords: Anne O’Dell, Mark Wynn, and Michael Lindsey; stalking log; Global Village Communications
