Abstract:

Presented as a fictional narrative but that one that will ring true for every professional who has worked with an offender released into the community, “Connor’s Tale” tells, from the offender’s perspective, how a number of reintegration technologies can be used to assist with thedifficult transition from prison to the community—complying with technical conditions that prove to be, in the end, supportive of more substantial goals like maintaining schedules and commitments and avoiding people and places that can trigger a relapse. The story concludes with an editor’s note tying the episodes in Connor’s experiences with actual technologies available and in use in the field today.
