Abstract: 

Approximately 3% to 4% of the more than 111,000 women in state and federal prisons are pregnant at the time they are incarcerated. Most will give birth in prison. Our regular survey of important research findings reviews “Intention and Initiation of Breastfeeding among Women Who Are Incarcerated” by Rebecca J. Shlafer, Laurel Davis, Lauren A. Hindt. Lorie S. Goshin and Erica Gerrity, published in the journal Nursing for Women’s Health.
