Abstract:

For the majority of the world’s population, 2020 has been a very stressful year, and for some, it has been a year of losses. We are not yet out of the difficulties and risks associated with the COVID-19 virus, and those of us working in community corrections are just beginning to assess the impact of the pandemic on our work with individuals and staff in the various sectors of the justice system. In this article, the journal’s editor, Don Evans, examines the systemic inequities, disparities, and weaknesses that have been exposed by the pandemic, and explores ideas for what community corrections agencies can do to provide better, more equal, and just service to the vulnerable and marginalized populations they exist to serve.
