Abstract:
The complete issue includes all of the articles listed in the contents above plus briefer treatments of a psychiatrist’s letter to plaintiff’s lawyers in Parsons v. Shinn detailing the dysfunction he encountered as an employee of Artizona’s correctional health care system; Hardesty v. Ward, in which the federal district court found for defendants accused of violating a violent and uncooperative inmate who was injured in an encounter he an initiated with guards; Downard v. Martin, in which an ex-police officer committed suicide in a holding cell; and Stojcevski v. Macomb Co., Mich, in which a jail inmate’s death from narcotic withdrawal is actionable and staff’s claim of qualified immunity denied after clear symptoms of distress and decline were ignored.
