Abstract:

The Supreme Court of Indiana, the California Court of Appeals, the Washington State Supreme court, and courts in New York and Nevada have upheld the use of GPS technology for remote monitoring and enforcing restraining orders. But in decisions against law enforcement and corrections, ruled against denial of time served credit while on EM, and against the use of GPS to track suspects without a warrant. This column summarizes, analyzes, and comments on these important decisions.
