Abstract: 

Recently, smartphone technology has come to the fore in discussions like the ones at Global Corrections Digital Technology Conference (GCDTC) addressing ways to unstick the slow progress toward modernization. This article examines the many ways in which smartphones may uniquely address many of the key obstacles that have stood in the way of more efficient and effective use of technology in supervision: smartphones promise lower cost, a faster learning curve, better engagement and compliance, and an unmatched potential for interactivity that may well promote prosocial behavioral change.
